Our final Mini Professor Session was all about ‘Space.’ We learnt the names of the planets and what happens when a rocket goes into Space. We made our own rockets with straws and paper and propelled them using our mouths to blow. We also made a gravity helicopter using just a paper clip and paper.
We talked about what force and gravity meant. An easy experiment at home to think about force is to tie a piece of string between two chairs with a straw on the string then attach a blown up balloon. Sellotape the balloon to the straw and let go- how far does it go? Try with different sizes of balloons.
